Tonmawr made their first visit to Llantwit Major on an unusually dry Sunday morning. Having made the trip from the Neath Valley with only 12 players, Llantwit generously lent two players for each half to make it a 14 a side game. With the Llantwit players still thinking of the early morning valentine day card’s it was quite quickly apparent that they had left their rugby head’s well and truly on their pillow.
42 unanswered points was the tale of a eye watering first half for the AmmoKnight parents with the only players enjoying the game the 2 that played for Tonmawr. Defensive frailties were exposed as Tonmawr seemed to score at will and had it now been for the wind the game could have been over by half time. Llantwit seemed to have shaken off the cobwebs at half time and made a better fist of the second half. Tries from Morgan Jenkins and two from Pete Mitchell gave the second half score line a more respectable appearance. Losing the last 30 minutes 20-19 Llantwit finished the game regretting their slow start with the final score 62-19 to the visiting team.
With more injuries picked up Llantwit squad is rapidly becoming wafer thin and 2016 has been a difficult one thus far.
