First XV hoping for fresh start to the New Year

With 2016 ending with First XV being both knocked out of the cup competition and then heavily beaten by Cowbridge in the local derby; Llantwit will no doubt be hoping for a fresh start to 2017. Their first fixture sees them travel to the capital this Saturday to take on Cardiff Saracens in the league, the game taking place at the Roath Recreation Ground k.o. 2:30pm.

It has been over twenty years since the two teams have faced each other; with old stalwart second row Shaun Shea just a mere pup when he played in the friendly fixture on the morning of a five nations championship game.
The Sarries it would be fair to say have had a poor season so far, winning just two of their ten fixtures, but one lesson Llantwit have learnt is that there are no easy games in this league. Reports coming from Roath suggest they may well have lost many of their fixtures but they do put in some good displays and have a young exciting back line. With Llantwit desperately eager to recover their early season form it should then make for an interesting match.
Some may be wondering if the Llantonians have taken on any New Years resolutions, to complete the game without any yellow cards may well be a good start?!
Any supporters are welcome to travel on the team bus leaving the clubhouse at 12:30pm. For the after match refreshments the club are now located at The Tavistock Pub, Bedford Street, off City Road.
