Mini and Junior rugby round up 16th Sept

The Recreation Ground was a busy venue this Sunday as the Mini’s hosted the 9th Sinclair Festival. Our Under 7’s, 8s, 9s and 10’s were all in action as teams visited Llantwit to play under the WRU festival format. With no scores being kept the only statistic we can give is that lots of kids played lots of rugby and the day seemed to run without incident. A congratulatory mention has to go to Priscilla Souter and the Under 16’s who run the day as they looked to raise funds towards their end of season tour. Our Under 11’s travelled to Porthcawl as they looked to continue their development on the new pitch sizes. A tight match saw tries for Conor Williams (4 tries) and a 1st try for Charlie Sheldon who was later voted LMRFC player of the match. Llantwit can be pleased with their efforts on the pitch despite the narrow 7-5 defeat. The Under 13’s had another tough match this week as they made the short trip to Bridgend Sports. Sports Under 13’s have made a good start to the season and they continued this form with a good win over the visiting Llantwit team. Throughout the game Bridgend Sports allowed their players to play for Llantwit due to playing numbers and this helped to make the game a competitive affair. The game ended 70-5 with both teams agreeing to utilise full playing time rather than worry about the 50-point margin. Tom Lamerton impressed for Llantwit as he looked to organise those around him and the team keep looking to build against some tough opposition. Our Under 14’s played out a close battle with Pontyclun going down 31-12 at the final whistle. Narrow margins decided the game with the hosts defence and some handling errors at key times ensuring that Llantwit couldn’t close the score line. Llantwit Majors Under 15’s travelled to Caerau Ely for the first time and came away with a 17-0 victory. Llantwit’s tries were scored by Sam Godfrey, Jac Roberts and Owen Rutherford. Kyle Smith kicked a successful conversion with the 15’s claiming their first victory of the season. Llantwit Major Mini and Juniors would like to thank their sponsors Pier Consulting, Davey Daw Building and Sinclair Motors.
