With no rugby last weekend due to the second round of the Six Nations competition Llantwit Major RFC look forward this week to the return of the league on Saturday and the challenge doesn’t come any better than welcoming the runaway league leaders the Cefn Coed Wolves to the Recreation Ground.
Cefn Coed have had a monumental season so far winning thirteen out of thirteen of their league fixtures and hold a nine point lead over second placed Llantwit despite playing two games less than them. A tough task then awaits the Llantonians as they will face a real uphill battle if they want to take the Wolves unbeaten run from them.
Llantwit however will be quick to remind people that they came mighty close to beating Cefn Coed in the reverse fixture in Merthyr back in October with a 20-17 loss; where after supporters of both teams agreed that the home team had probably had the rub of the green in some of the refereeing decisions that day.
Llantwit will no doubt feel they have a point to prove not just in relation to this fixture but also by their own admissions they have been far too often underperforming at crucial times this season. No better time then to put this bogy to bed than against the top team in the league, kick off is at 2:30pm.
