Tough few weeks ahead for First XV

With another weekend off as the Wales v Japan International took place. The First XV were left to look forward to the up and coming fixtures, and there is something to get excited about as there are four intriguing games over consecutive weekends before the Christmas break.

First up are Old Penarthians who visit the Recreation Ground this Saturday in the league; Llantwit are currently second in the table with Old Pens one down from them in third. The following weekend there is no let up as they then travel up to the Rhondda Valley to take on the current fourth placed team Wattstown. Two tough encounters which will require big performances by Llantwit to show they are worthy of their lofty status in the league and secure their position. Then on 10 December they travel to unfamiliar territory in taking on Monmouth in the cup with the National Bowl fourth round fixture. Monmouth are currently having a good season with four wins and two losses in a division higher than Llantwit and have shown good form in the cup so far; naturally then they will start as favourites to progress to the next round. Finally to round things off Llantwit return to the Recreation Ground and welcome back old rivals Cowbridge in the league as the much anticipated local derby takes place. Cowbridge have had a poor start to the season but reports are that their young side are beginning to gel and this was evident recently when they pulled off a shock in getting their first win of the season at Old Penarthians. So no doubt they will prove to be no push over and looking to get one over their local rivals when they make the trip across Llandow for the game on the 17 December.

A tough few weeks await the Llantonians then, will it be a merry Christmas for them, we shall have to wait and see…
This Saturdays home game against Old Penarthians will kick off at the earlier time of 1:30p.m. as there is another evening kick off in the last Autumn International, with Wales v South Africa taking place at 5:30p.m.
