Pre-season Games Announced..

With pre-season training starting tonight and next seasons fixtures now decided the First XV who finished fourth in the league last season are starting to look towards the start of season by arranging two warmup friendlies in August in preparation for the 2017/18 season.

On Saturday 19 August, Divison 1 side, Bridgend Athletic make the relatively short trip into the Vale of Glamorgan to take on the Llantonians at the Recreation Ground. The Athletic sportingly agreeing to bring a development side for a game which will also be played for the Lyn Dolman Memorial Cup. The day not ending with the game as the club are planning a post match barbecue and live music for players and spectators to attend.
The following week Llantwit entertain what is believed to be a new visitor to the Recreation Ground as they take on Pontrhydyfen RFC who play at the same level as their hosts, but as they hail from the Neath Valley compete in the West Central league, and that is not where the comparisons end as they also finished fourth in their league last season.
The Llantonians will need plenty of preparation too as they will need to hit the ground running once the league starts on the first weekend in September. The first game seeing them take on Old Penarthians at home, who gave them two tough games last year; before renewing the derby game as the following week they travel to take on local rivals Cowbridge.
On the social scene with the enthralling British & Irish Lions Test Match series against New Zealand poised at 1-1, come and see the deciding Test Match at the Clubhouse on Saturday, the fully licensed bar will be open from 08:00am, also serving unlimited tea and coffee and breakfast rolls available at half time. The game kicks off at 8:35am with the bar, lounge and function room open their will be plenty of room for all to watch and see if the Lions can pull off what would be a magnificent and historic victory.
