Treherbert were the visitors to the Recreation Ground this weekend as the Under 13’s looked forward to playing another team with a double age grade combo. With illness depriving the home team of several players it was agreed to play 13 aside as both teams looked forward to playing on the wide expanses of the Boverton Rod Pitch. Inherently slow starters the home team looked to buck that tradition with some slick passing as they exploited the gaps out wide. A sumptuous team move was finished off by Liam Davies for the first score before a bulldozing run by Tyler lee raced the home team into a 2 try lead. The visitors soon hit back with a powerful run by the number 8 allowed them to crash over and bring the scores to 7-14. Llantwit then begun to entertain the fans and scored a wonderful team try that was finished off by Keenan Faulkner whose support running all game was immense. Further tries were added by Davies and Lee before Treherbert finished the half with another well worked effort.

With the sun now bathing the ground in glorious sunshine the home fans begged for more delicious action and they weren’t disappointed. Having conceded at the end of the first half the home side wanted to strike first an they did just that. Lewis Gregson pounced on a loose ball and with a step and glide he meandered his way through the defence to score the first points of the second half. It wasn’t long before the Davies-Lee combo added additional score before Treherbert hit back with 2 tries of their own. As they threatened to come back in to the game Llantwit upped their game and following a smart kick off they regained possession in a dangerous position. As the ball was moved wide debutant Fraser Mawson found himself in an ocean of space an he needed no second invitation as he crossed for a score. Harry Fisher and Dylan Barlow added their name to the try scorers before the final whistle and credit to all the players who attempted conversions. Big hand to Treherbert for making the journey down and never giving up. Another team who are trying their best with limited numbers in both age groups. The same has to be said for the Under 12’s who have stepped up from our own group. They have made the transition and play without fear of the older kids. A credit to the club.
