With the advent of a re-positioned season and a plethora of new rules Llantwit Major under 11’s travelled to St Albans knowing that the Under 11 season would be one of much intrigue and challenges. With the sun basking down on the Tremorfa turf it’s safe to say the season also brought with it a sense of summer lethargy as the 11’s spent most of the opening exchanges still dreaming of sandy beaches and blue sea’s whilst their hardened big city opponents got down to their rugby business.

A game of thirds with St Albans getting to grips with the wider pitch and being the worthy front-runners of the early exchanges.  With the red flags firmly planted in the summer sand the Llantwit boys all of a sudden realised that they were in a game and a flurry of rugby endeavour followed as they soon gorged in the bountiful space of their new under 11 surroundings. Tries from Liam, Dylan R, Bayley, Aaron and Tyler excited the travelling crowd and showed that these boys do know how to play the game. However in showing their rugby credentials Llantwit woke an ugly beast within their opponents that we don’t like to see on the junior field and the less said about the final third the better. Instead a positive focus on the good rugby played by both sides in the early season encounter and fingers crossed of an enjoyable season and more Sunday morning sunshine.
