two tough encounters for the Under 11's

It was a bit of a dull and dreary start to the home season, as Llantwit Major RFC under 11’s played matches against St Peters and Kenfig Hill. The team faces a lot of learning in the early part of the year with so many new players having joined the side, and everyone still getting to know each other and find their feet on the rugby field.

First up were St Peters and there some good rugby was played by both sides with fluent passing and running from all players. Llantwit saw great individual tries from Aaron and Tom but the visitors gave the spectators lovely displays of running and passing rugby to outscore the team overall.

After a short break, it was time for Llantwit to play Kenfig Hill. The sun was starting to make an appearance, but unfortunately our players returned to the pitch looking quite lethargic. Perhaps it was due to the fact that a few of them had been away in St David’s with school for 3 days, and the home team could not get into game. Sadly no tries were scored by Llantwit, with Kenfig Hill showing too much guile and power to be the worthy victors.

Things to work on moving forward but this influx of new players provide plenty of positives for our Under 11’s. With more new players on the horizon and the rugby world cup to boost rugby morale the team head onto the next game against Careau Ely.
