Pontypridd’s forward power was the telling factor in an enthralling Under 14’s match at the Recreation Field. Two first half tries helped give the home team the edge at half time as Aaron Moce and Dylan Rees touched down to give post a narrow 14-12 lead at half time. Pontypridd scored first in the second half before Llantwit replied through Tyler Lee who duly converted to re-establish the home lead with 20 minutes to go. However, Pontypridd then scored 3 unanswered tries in the closing stages of the game to claim the deserved victory 34-21.

The performance was a significant improvement for Llantwit Major following their 2^nd half capitulation against Clwb Rygbi 2 weeks ago. The first half was an even affair with both sides looking to play rugby in the bitterly cold conditions. With both forward packs looking to establish their physical dominance in the tight it proved to a matter of time before the away teams stronger runners took hold.

Struggling against the power of the Pontypridd scrum and forwards play the home side battled admirably to stay within touching distance in the second half. The away pressure told in the closing stages which saw the Pontypridd Number 8 take control of the game and run in 2 powerful individual scores. A lack of replacements for a third match on the run proved a key factor for Llantwit Major and despite their large squad size the continue to find it difficult to produce a squad on a Sunday morning.
