Speak of the Devils

The Under 12s travelled to Cardiff on what was a glorious, sunny Sunday last weekend to play Canton on their home turf.

Within a short time of kick-off, Alfie side stepped and flew up the wing in his classic, seemingly effortless, Alfie style. A conversion narrowly missed by Eddie and then it was back to business. Canton were a strong side and the next part of the game was very much spent near their try line, however, Llantwit were not to be crossed and the Devils attacking skills prevented the home side getting to their touchline. There was cracking interception from the team and Eddie in particular was determined to make them work for their try, which did eventually come after much perserverance from Canton.

All the gang did incredibly well at getting the homeside down as they continued their attempts at making a break for it. Rory, Evan and George were forces to be reckoned with but, alas, another try got through!

Second half and Jack was on top of his game (and only his third ever!) and got his try, making the Devils and Canton neck and neck.

Unfortunately, with many tired legs on the pitch, Canton scored their last try in the final moments of the match, making them the winners, but all the spectators would agree it was a brilliant, adrenaline inducing match to watch, with a fantastic effort from both the Devils and Canton and all look forward to seeing what the next Devils game will bring.

It was a tough decision choosing the Player of the Match, but was awarded to Rory this week, who spent the game getting the opposition down time and time again, even when injured. A special mention must go to Tom who put on yet another stellar performance around the park!
