On Sunday 22nd August three current Llantwit Major youth players will represent the Wales Rugby League age grade sides in matches against the England Lions. Lewis Ingram and Sam Godfrey will both pull on the Wales jersey for the Under 17’s squad with Dylan Morgan tuning out for the Under 16’s in the earlier game.
The international matches are being played as a double header at Colwyn Bay where the Wales Under 17’s and 16’s will line up against their English counterparts in what promises to be a tough test for our young men. All 3 lads are part of the current Llantwit Major youth squad and the club is incredibly proud of their hard work to gain rugby league honours. Their achievements are especially impressive given the lack of rugby that has been played prior to the squad announcements.
The representative list could have been even better had Jamie Jenkins not suffered an injury during a session with the Under 16’s. Jamie Jenkins who played for the juniors age grades for the last 10 years will have a period of rest and rehab and we have no doubt he’ll battle back from this setback. Everyone at the club wishes him a speedy recovery.
The club would also like to congratulate local boys Daniel Bartlett and Dafydd Morgan who will also be part of the Wales Under 16 squad. Whilst the boys may not part of the current Llantwit Major age grade teams its still great to see young men from our town gaining international rugby league recognition.
